A running good time

A friend at work asked if I wanted to be on her Reno-Tahoe Odyssey team this year.  To which I said "Heck Yes" of course.  This is the race's 7th year running and I can't tell you how much fun it was.  I'd do it again.  Right now.  Okay....maybe I'll let my blisters heal a little first.

It took our team 27 hours 44 minutes to complete the 178 mile course around Reno and Lake Tahoe.  We finished 129th out of 204 teams.  I finished the race (tired of course) but motivated to train harder and be speedier next time.
Team #32 - Disco Velveeta

Finishing my first leg
My favorite leg of the race was my night run.  This was my first ever night-time running.  It was a great experience to be out under the stars, hearing the frogs croaking in the woods, with the faint smell of fireplaces burning in the night.  I had a bit of a climb but I finished the 6.2 miles in 1:05 which makes me happy, especially since I ran most of it with one shoelace untied (no way was I going to let anyone pass me).

It takes a real man to wear pink
There was so much camaraderie and team spirit and just plain, old silly fun.  It was infectious. The boy came out on the second day and cheered our team on.  We even let him buy a round or two of bloody mary's at the Bucket of Blood in Virginia City.

Our Cheering squad

Checking this one off the bucket list....but don't worry, I'll be back next year for sure!
